I remember Derek Stepan trying this many times are a NY Ranger. The moment a player is about to send in a hard wrap the goalie needs to go out to play the puck to help out their D and to maintain possession. However, sometimes you have to have your head on a swivel because Dougie got ya. Should the goalie have stopped this anyways? Probably, but it is always pretty cool when a player scores from deep whether it be on a hard wrap, a muffin or a bouncy dump in AYOO. I’ve always been hard on Dougie for being the museum guy but I was thinkin’ maybe I had him pegged wrong– that is until he scoreboarded an Oiler fan.
Nothing screams “I’m a loser” than the guy who points at the scoreboard. Playing the game is about wins and losses but life is more than a game and you are a square if you’re doing shit like this.
