Otto Kivenmäki, the Red Wings 191st overall pick in the 2018 NHL draft, took a really bad hit in the Liiga league in Finland from David Nemecek of Lukko Rauma.
Yesterday, Otto’s mom posted on social media giving us an update on her sons condition. This is some really scary shit and the type of stuff that rattles my cage that players in the 70’s and 80’s didn’t crack their head open on a regular basis. I can’t even comprehend playing any sort of hockey game without a helmet, let alone one in a professional league of giant human beings. Can you imagine having Bobby Clarke or Dave Schultz wheelin’ in going full tilt while you’re chillin’ completely unprotected? That’s a no from me, dog. Shoutout to the medical staff for getting their quick and helping out Otto.
