Vegas Golden Knights Fail in the West Final

The Vegas Golden Knights could not get the offense going against Dallas. Somehow squeaking by Vancouver, and you gotta thank Robin Lehner for that. Ever since game four in the second round against Vancouver the offensive fire power was missing from Vegas. It was during this series where I felt Vegas was lacking and things didn’t change against Dallas. Were the Golden Knights rattled by Thatcher Demko? Pete DeBoer seems to think so after making multiple comments about rattling confidence. Fast forward to 6:10 in the video below.

Dobby’s goaltending play has been absolutely fabulous. Not to mention Dallas is the only squad in the West to ride one goaltender all of playoffs. But something happened to Vegas. Max Pacioretty had one point all series against Dallas and that came in game two on Paul Stasny’s goal. Mark Stone found the scoresheet twice all series and both points came in game three where Vegas would go on to lose in overtime. The offense really seemed to fade away and Vegas would go on to lose the next three games. The Golden Knights had one last chance in game five when it goes to overtime but Vegas failed to score.

With many of the offensive superstars returning to Vegas next season the biggest question remains on the goaltending situation. I wrote about the “playoff controversy” but now it seems like there’s really only room for one. There had been rumors about a Robin Lehner extension but Panda shut those down last week. Is this the end of the Marc-Andre Fleury era in Vegas?

Meanwhile, former Dallas Stars head coach is headed back to St. Louis.

Jim Montgomery named assistant coach in what looks like a second chance. One of the many coaches that was sent packing in what seemed like a covid coaching carousel. Anyways, we got a Stanley Cup to watch in September!? I’m rooting for Tampa Bay because I want to see a Big Rig repeat.
