No Russians No Problem!

Oh oh oh how good it feels to have the sweet justice of always having confidence in your team!

Oh we vibin on this Friday morning baby!

The Caps go 3-1 without our Russians and still have yet to lose in regulation!!! So all you Caps fans that were freaking out about “goalie problems” or “we can’t win without the Russians” I hope this gave you a big reality check and made you realize to be patient and have more confidence in our boys.

As of 1/29/21 the Washington Capitals sit at the top of the division with a record of (W)5-(L)0-(OTL)3 accumulating a total of 13 points and having 31 goals for and 26 goals against.

As of yesterday in typical Caps fashion the boys squeezed out another W over the New York Islanders and our former bench boss Tortz. The Caps were able to net 6 unanswered goals in the comeback and complete the victory in a 6-3 final.

The biggest issue so far this season in my mind is the Caps go down early in most games and then have to claw back tooth and nail to either win or send it to OT. This was also a huge problem last season as well. You simply can not be a Stanley Cup caliber team when you are consistently going down early on the scoreboard, but with that said our Caps have also showed us grit and determination unlike most teams in the league, they continue to battle till the last whistle and which shows by our record and NO REGULATION LOSSES!

Some other positive notes Big Z Zdeno Chara scored his first goal as a Cap and was greeted by a huge team celly from the boys #Hugs4Z. It was a cool moment as a Caps fan, because from my knowledge I don’t recall us getting a free agent like Chara and when they scored their first goal as a Cap the whole team reacting like this. This is a type of reaction that truly shows how tight this locker-room already is.

Another bright spot that has somewhat gone under the radar for some Caps fans is how great of an acquisition D-man Justin Schultz has become already. He has netted 6 points in the last 3 games and he has been impeccable on the defensive end of the ice. (Sucks to suck Pens fans)

Oh speaking of former Pens how bout our new sweet boy Conor Sheary that kid has been buzzing around the ice and bringing a type of energy we haven’t seen in awhile in a red sweater. Sheary scored his first two goals as a member of the Caps with help from his line mates Oshie at center and Panik on the opposite wing.

I am already loving Peter Laviolette’s mentality with not being afraid to change things up day to day.

Oh I couldn’t keep going without mentioning the play of Vitek Vanecek, did I mention that he has yet to be beaten during regulation this season. Vitek is one of two rookie tendies in franchise history to accomplish this in their first six career games. Jim Carey went 6-0-0-1 in the 94-95 season to stat his career.

Going forward you have to give Vitek the true starter role just based on his play alone regardless of the Samsonov situation, but Sammy will get his chance with this shortened season so we are going to need him to make a serious run or if Vitek goes on a slump. This does have me a little excited because I hope the way the team has been playing without the Russians gives those guys a kick in the ass when they come back and make this team a juggernaut.
