Ahead of tonight’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights there will be no Zach Parise in the lineup. He does not have covid and he is not injured, but he was on the ice for morning skate. For the first time in his Minnesota Wild career, Parise is a healthy scratch. This is his ninth season in his home state and he is very much the face of the franchise so this comes as a head scratcher. The last time he was scratched came in his rookie year with New Jersey.
The media claims the reason is because Parise failed to come off the ice during a shift change at the end of last game. Which Parise says the reason for staying on the ice was to get Marcus Folingo a hat trick on the empty net. Obviously, that empty netter never came and Alex Tuch was able to tie the game up.
I have been a fan of Zach Parise for a long time ever since he was a Devil. But it feels like the veteran was playing a video game. The shift ended up being 1:33 which is way too long especially at the end of the game. Parise has three goals and six assists in 19 games this season. If Vegas didn’t scored and the Wild ended up winning would Parise be on the bench? How many games will Zach Parise spend in the press box? Let us know what you think.
