Recap Preseason Game 5 vs Chicago Blackhawks
Holy F**k, this game! (Oh sorry, language)
The Wings were just utterly steam-rolled in the first 10 minutes in the first period by a Chicago team that is poised for a great season, probable playoff run in a brutal division. The Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead and continued dominant play for the rest of the stanza. Jonathon Toews is back, no other way to say it. Kane, Toews, DeBrincat and now add Tyler Johnson, Seth Jones and Marc-Andre Fleury… yeesh.
In the second, Detroit seemed to gain their footing. The defense tightened up and the power play brought the team to life. Bobby Ryan starting off the scoring (from Raymond, and Leddy.) Then Moritz Seider added a beauty, getting his first goal as a Wing (from Fabbri and Zadina), followed by Robby Fabbri (from Hronek and Seider) not even 3 minutes later. All 3 goals on the power play. Chicago added in between, and It was 4-3 after the second period.
Then in the third, the Wings picked up where they left off with another power play goal from Lucas Raymond (from Larkin and Ryan). But… Chicago was able to close things out, with a goal halfway through the period and held on to add an empty net goal… DeBrincat from Toews and Kane..
6-4 FINAL.
Take Aways:
4 Power Play Goals (3 goals in the 2nd, 1 in the 3rd.) A much improved PP will be huge.
Lucas Raymond (1 goal, 1 assist), and Moritz Seider (1 goal, 1 assist) showed they belong. Lucas Raymond, it was said more than once, whenever he was on the ice, good things were happening.
Sign Bobby Ryan.

Comeback came up short. Without a miraculous save from Marc-Andre Fleury, the result could have been different. I keep saying, this team will be fun to watch.
From the Detroit sports point of view, there’s really only professional team (Detroit City Football Club of NISA) that is not in the middle of the rebuild. We saw the Tigers were much improved this year, exceeded expectations. The Lions… are well, the Lions but have glimpses. The Pistons start here soon but I’m looking forward to see this Red Wing team. LGRW!
