I am Thankful for the Caps losing streak ending!

First of all I want to be the first to wish you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you have all the food and beer your heart desires! Also don’t forget to take that “walk” around the neighborhood with your cousin or uncle IYKYK!

I am also thankful for Alex Ovechkin may his day be filled with family time and a foreshadowing of more goals!

What a better Thanksgiving gift than a OT game winner and the end of a frustrating losing streak! Caps win 3-2 in OT vs those Flyers.

Wednesday night was the battle of losing streaks between Philly and Washington.

The Caps have had a hard time starting hot in game with these lackadaisical first periods which causes them to play catch up most games. They have been outscored 11-1 in the first period this season that is TERRIBLE!!! We need that number to drastically change in our favor is we don’t want to constantly be playing from behind.

Kuemper let in two pretty weak goals during the game . He needs to start playing like his contract plain and simple. I know our defense isn’t top tier but he needs to be picking them up between the pipes.

The Caps got on the board with a nice feed from Oshie (thank god he is back please stay healthy!) to a tap from Ovi with Marcus Johansson finishing the goal to beat the Philly tender. This was Oshie’s first game back in awhile and he didn’t waste anytime getting on the score sheet.

It was 1-1 after one, but it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without showing the best intermission entertainment maybe in the NHL or even all of sports…… THE TURKEY MITES!!!! This will never not be funny to me!

At the end of two the score was 2-1 Philly.

Then we got a barely onside goal with a saucy passing from Kuzy to a gliding Sonny Milano which lets be honest has been a breath of fresh air to this aging Caps team. Just love how this dude plays!

Regulation ended with the score 2-2 and the boys headed to overtime!

Then Ovechkin called game with a pass from Strome Ovi whipped a nice little snapshot to end the game and give the Capitals the 3-2 overtime win!

Ovi’s overtime goal was scored on his 164th new goaltender (Felix Sandstrom) in his career which is now tied with Mark Messier for 3rd in NHL history and only trails Jaromir Jagr (178) and Patrick Marleau (177). This goal was also Ovi’s 790th goal of his career.

Overall a win the Capitals desperately needed so lets start a winning streak of our own! The Caps are back in action Friday against the Flames.
