The Washington Capitals took on the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night with Ovi 3 goals away from history so you know the place was PACKED!
Three minutes into the game Ovechkin let the fans know he was going for history tonight. Ovi waiting in front got a feed from Strome.
With this goal Ovechkin is now one goal away from tying Gretzky’s goal record. He also is the first player in NHL history with at least 3 40 goal seasons at the age pf 35 or older.
With 6 minutes left the Hawks get the equalizer via Bertuzzi past a sliding Lindgren to make it a 1-1 game.

Frank Nazar 30 seconds into the 2nd stopped the puck nicely with his backhand and was able to quick adjust for the wrister to beat Charlie to make it 2-1 Blackhawks.
The Caps then answer back with a great shot from McMichael which snuck past the Hawks goalie then a flying Martin Fehervary playing heads up hockey knocks the puck in 2-2 ballgame.
The Blackhawks answer immediately off the next faceoff off a great save by Lindgren the rebound was scooped up and scored by Philipp Kurashev to give the Hawks back the lead 3-2.
Then Dylan Strome was awarded a goal off his shot that was put in their own goal by a Chicago defender, all tied up at 3 a piece.
Then on the power-play Alex Ovechkin tied history from his circle with a snipe show to give the Caps the 4-3 lead!
Ovi has officially tied NHL History for most goals EVER!
Then with just over a minute left Ovi had an onslaught of shots with two great chances one just hitting the Hawks goalie’s shoulder that would have went in. Hopefully we only have to wait one more game for history.
We also saw RL9 get his first NHL goal that he definitely earned with his hustle beating the Hawks defender to get the empty netter.
Great game good win but we shouldn’t be playing this close with a terrible team that is Chicago. We unfortunately saw the red hot Protas limp off the ice with assistance so lets hope it isn’t serious.
Charlie didn’t have his A game tonight facing 20 shots and letting in 3 goals since LT suffered an upper body injury on Wednesday night.
History can be made this Sunday in Long Island NY where the Caps take on the Islanders and I bet those tickets are going like hotcakes!
