John Tavares Breaks From His Robotic Answers And Says He “Absolutely” Hates The Rangers. Welcome To The Club Cap! Oh JT, The Entire Franchise Hangs On This Season. No Pressure. Right?!

Hockey season is here!!! The first games have taken place and the season has begun. The Blackhawks scored more points in one game versus the Pens than they did for all of the 2016 playoffs. McDavid and Matthews continue to redefine the modern game. Picking up right where the left off and the Rangers?! Well, as an Isles fan, I can’t say that I truly give too much thought to the Rangers.

So, not to kick a guy while he’s down, but Ked is probably  gutted after the Rangers performance in the opener. 2-1 struggling to get a goal and his sprit animal, Mats unable to deliver. That sucks. Bad.

While most of us wish that interviews went like this:

They don’t are are generally the most boring part of the best game in the world. They suck.

In other news of the day, as if Captain, Mr. Islander, John Tavares had not done enough to cement his desire to remain with the team and dedicated to the fans. He broke from his usual robotic, canned answers during an interview with 98.7 ESPN. He said that while the Rangers and Islanders each have 4 cups and no one can claim true bragging right that he “absolutely” hates the Rangers. This is surprising as he is usually one to toe the diplomatic line and boring line. With that one statement, he won over any doubts about his desire to remain an Islander. This despite the 100’s of interviews saying the same over the years. All that sentiment cannot save this franchise from itself. Chirping Ked about the Isles-Rangers rivalry would not be as fun if they move to Houston.

If the Isles brass cannot figure out the arena deal the Islanders and JT are “absolutely” fucked. Not just a little bit either. The entire franchise could hang in the balance of this season. If the arena situation is not figured out and JT goes to apparently, anyone but the Rangers at the deadline, this team has a date stamp on it. It will turn into relocation bait for Bettman and the rest of his NHL cronies. Don’t think so, ask the fans of the Quebec Nordiques. They thought the same thing and bang the team was gone. I could say the same about my hometown Supersonics. Is it merely a coincidence that OVG is trying to build an arena at Belmont and in Seattle. Could be, but I freaking doubt it. While they don’t own the Isles, the Isles could be without a home in January 2018 and Seattle can and would support a team. That said Quebec already has an arena. As a fan, I hate to see teams pull out of a market, but don’t think for a second that the NHL is opposed to it, despite the propping up of the Coyotes for over a decade.

As an Islanders fan I want them to go back to the Barn and be the scrappy younger brother that beats the shit out of the older brother on the regular. JT embodies that spirit with his statement. The reality is the team is trending young and speedy, has a great coach and Captain, but none of that means anything if you’re homeless. Sooooooo no pressure JT and the boys, we love you and are behind you. NY Islanders brass, get your shit together and show the fan base that you mean to stay! Oh and boys take care of CBJ tonight! I am sure that you are aware, but the season leaves this franchise hanging on by a thread. No big deal, right? YES! YES! YES!
