On last weeks podcast Hal and Ked talked about the NHLs inability to find good halftime show / concerts. We, like most of you, are sick of the Nickelbacks and Goo Goo Dolls of the world. While Hal thinks the NHL should just give up on the idea of having a concert type of event, I had to believe. I had to think that the NHL would eventually figure it out and wow wow wow wow wow, the NHL has done it. The NHL will have Kid Rock play the All Star Game.
Multiplatinum-selling singer/songwriter Kid Rock will headline the entertainment for the 2018 Honda NHL® All-Star Game in Tampa on Sunday, Jan. 28, the National Hockey League announced tonight during NBCSN’s pregame coverage of the Philadelphia Flyers-New York Rangers game. A portion of the second intermission presented by Ticketmaster® featuring Kid Rock will be televised as part of the 2018 Honda NHL® All-Star Game broadcast, which begins at 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Jan. 28, on NBC in the U.S. and CBC, Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada.
Close your eyes and imagine Victor Hedman, Eric Staal, Josh Bailey and Rickard Rakell attempting to jam out to Kid fucking Rock. *Chills* I know Kid Rock is a super aggressive human being, which some people would even call trash, but I LOVE this move. Why? Because he is as American as it gets. He gives zero fucks and just loves playing kick ass songs. This man lives a simple life. Sex, drugs and rock and roll might as well be a synonym for the term ‘Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid Rock’. I mean, look at this fucking guy.
I don’t think Tampa Bay knows what is about to happen and what they are about to listen too. I’ve never been there but I envision Tampa Bay with more of a Ricky Martin, Pitbull, Jlo kind of vibe. So while you may not be hearing Livin’ la Vida Loca, you’ll be head rocking to songs like these.
Did the NHL finally get it right? Time will tell.. time will tell. Until then, enjoy the man in Joe Dirt.
