1993 Maine Black Bears Documentary, Out of The Woods, Is A Must Watch!

Papa just got back from a few days up in Maine. It was a much needed vacation to see some friends and have some time to relax. While I was up at Maine I kept thinking of a video I used to watch all the time when I was younger. It was called, Out Of The Woods. This video featured a documentary story of the 1993 Maine Black Bears National Championship team. Hosted by Gary Thorne, this video brings back so many memories from when I was a kid. It was one of those videos you through on the night before a big game. Legendary coach Shawn Walsh is what I envision how every coach should be. His speeches still give me chills after the 100th time watching this documentary. The Black Bears are also led by captain Jim Montgomery. Many of you know that name, because he was once the coach of the Dallas Stars. Other standouts include Hobey Baker winner, Paul Kariya, NHL goalies, Mike Dunham and Garth Snow, and the famous New York Rangers draft picks Chris and Peter Ferraro.

Here is a link below to the documentary on youtube. You can also buy a copy on Amazon. It’s honestly worth buying. But if you are at work and find yourself missing hockey and bored out of your mind, this is with out a doubt worth the watch. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did.

Also, RIP to Coach Shawn Walsh who died way too young at the age of 46 from cancer. He was an amazing coach and a great leader in the locker room.
