Lets put this in perspective with an ordinary Google search.
In one hit to the head Tom Wilson has forfeited almost a life time savings of money. Today the NHL Department of Player Safety finally laid down the hammer. Tom Wilson was suspended 20 games by the NHL, pending an appeal. As a Capitals fan, I’m sure you are upset. I think we’ve all seen hits MUCH worse than this one but the make or break factor was Tom Wilsons history with the league.
“An unprecedented frequency of suspensions in the history of Department of Player Safety” is an all time line. Yeah, no shit guys. Why did this happen? Maybe because you didn’t suspend him 5 games the first time. And to all those THE NHL HAS GONE SOFT, AND KED YOU’RE A PUSSY people, this does not reflect my views on the game. I’m not saying I agree with it, but it is what it is. You can no longer throw a hit to a head, especially to an unsuspecting
player victim. Thats not me being a candyass thats just me telling you the facts in 2018. If Scott Stevens still played hockey he would’ve been banned for life the moment he stepped on the ice. Brian Campbell would’ve been crucified for the hit on RJ Umberger and NHL Hitz probably never would’ve existed.
What does this mean for Tom Wilson? Well, I guess we’ll wait and see. IMO it changes the entire way he approaches the game. The next time he even throws a borderline hit, he’ll be FUCKED, like BEYOND FUCKED. It’ll be interesting to see what type of player the Capitals have when Wilson returns.
What do you guys think? Too much or not enough?
