Throughout history there has always been two different types of parenting strategies dealing with confrontation. One was always to turn the other cheek and be the bigger man. Via google, turning the other cheek is a phrase in Christian doctrine from the Sermon on the Mount that refers to responding to injury without revenge and allowing more injury. The other parenting strategy is fuck that noise, always throw the first punch and when you throw make sure it counts. Last night during a fight between Tom Wilson and Robert Bortuzzo, we saw both policies in real time.
Parent one is down to throw hammers. This guy has been waiting to go to the game for some time and couldn’t be happier that there is a physical altercation only a few feet and a pane of glass away.
Parent number two is mortified. No way in hell will her child succumb to this macho man battle of becoming the alpha.
Everything about this video is amazing. We’re talking two absolute different ends of a parenting spectrum coming alive in just a matter of seconds. Very well could make the top 10 NHL videos of the year.
