I won’t waste anytime getting into this. If you haven’t been following me on Twitter for all my hockey bets, you’re truly missing out. @bettingcrashers is on a tear. I’m 6-2 over the first two nights of the season.
To break down what I’ll be doing for the season, I will briefly explain. I will be picking a favorite, underdog, and an over/under for the weekend. This can be tough considering weekend lines are not out yet, but I have been doing this long enough to have a sense of what the lines will probably be. So let’s get started.
Detroit Red Wings at Nashville Predators, Saturday 10/5 8pm
Nashville Predators ML -220
The Red Wings are coming into Nashville and will get smoked for a few reasons. First, the Preds are one of the most complete teams in the NHL. I really like them this season to possibly take the cup. Detroit is still in the rebuilding phase and are not deep enough to win this on the road. The second reason is that Detroit heads home the next night to host Dallas. This will be the Wings first game and the will have a tough time handling the Predators on the road. Classic look ahead game for Detroit that leaves them no shot.
New Jersey Devils at Buffalo Sabres, Saturday 10/5 7pm
New Jersey Devils ML +120?
The Devils have the Jets tonight. I think this will be a shootout so I’m taking the over. But this isn’t the bet. I like them on the second night on a back to back against Buffalo. Buffalo is coming a high of beating the Penguins on the road and I think they get shocked by NJ. The Devils are one of the teams that could be a sleeper this year in the Metro. As long as Schneider plays half way decent, they will be a tough team to beat.
Boston Bruins at Arizona Coyotes, Saturday 10/5 9pm
Under 6 -125?
This will be an odd game. Boston opening on the west coast coast is weird. But I do think that the Rotes could pull this off as a dog in a hard low scoring battle. Boston heads to Vegas after this game so this could be a look ahead opportunity for the Yotes. I like this game at 6 and not 5.5. This way I can get the push at 6.
So those are my weekend plays after a hot start. Be sure to follow on twitter, @bettingcrashers to get official plays. It’s tough to predict what lines will be when teams still have games before the weekend. Good luck and feel free to tweet at me for any questions or to make fun of me when I go 0-3 week 1.
