Remember back in the day when you’d play the old NHL games and players like Sakic, Yzerman, Kariya, Jagr, Lemeiux, etc. would have like 130-150 points? I never once thought I’d see that again. Think about it, in 2014-15 Jamie Benn led the league with 84 points and in only 29 games, with 82-29=53 games remaining, Connor McDavid trails that by 33 points which in reality in just about a road trip for McDavid and Draisaitl.
Don’t look now, but the Oilers are first in the Pacific and look to be playoff bound. I don’t watch a lot of west coast hockey but I loved watching Draisaitl and McDavid rip it up in the playoffs.
This might go without saying but as they go, the team goes. Even if McDavid and Draisaitl continue at 1/2 the pace, it seems like the Oilers will be playoff bound and that’s not only good for Hockey Canada but also for any hockey fan with a pulse.
