Ref Calls Back Teddy Bear Toss Goal

If you’ve listened to the podcast you know by now that I am the in game host of the Adirondack Thunder. If you aren’t familiar with Glens Falls, NY all you need to know is they are blue collar, salt of the Earth people. A couple years ago I did a video with Two Buttons Deep to showcase the Thunder, their fans and coincidentally it was at a Teddy Bear Toss game.

Fast forward to this year, the boys from Adirondack buried on the Power Play and fans started throwing teddy bears on the ice. It’s such a cool moment to be down on the ice seeing these teddy bears fly knowing that hockey is in fact electric in Upstate NY and that a ton of kids are going to be receiving a teddy bear for Christmas. That is, until the ref called the goal back on an absolute ridiculous goaltender interference call.

I was going to out the video of the controversial goal but it seems to be scraped from the internet.. interesting..

This has me wondering, is this ref the Grinch? Is he Ebenezer Scrooge? Does he not care about the kids? What could’ve been an unreal moment was turned into a WTF is going on realization. The no goal call sucked the life out of the rink, the Thunder ended up losing 4-0 and what would’ve / could’ve been a really special moment was taken away by a guy who clearly does not care about the holidays, the kids, or anything else other than his own agenda.

Have you guys ever seen anything like this happen before? Knowing the situation, wouldn’t you let that one ride? I’m still in shock but hopefully the boys can rally around this injustice and start making a run come Christmas— for the kids.
