NHL on NBC posted a tweet that I thought was pretty cool considering NBC usually goes out of its way to post the worst hockey content in the world. Come 2020 three current players in the NHL can officially say they played in four different decades.
Jumbo Joe Thornton: 1,601 games played, 413 goals, 1,077 assists
Patrick Marleau: 1,688 games played, 557 goals, 620 assists
Zdeno Chara: 1,519 games played, 205 goals, 450 assists
That’s a pretty amazing accomplishment. It will be hard to imagine an NHL without these legends. Given that Chara is in better shape than the rest of the league, he can most likely play another 10 years.
