Bill Burr With Expert Troll Job On Habs Fans

Anyone who follows the comedian, Bill Burr, knows that he is a huge hockey fan. On the Bill Burr Podcast, he is constantly talking about Boston sports and mainly the Boston Bruins. So with no surprise the legendary comedian had a little fun with the Montreal Canadiens fan base as he promotes his upcoming show.

As a hockey fan, this is what you like to see. A little friendly rivalry and trollery. Just good old fashioned fun. It’s cool to see the Montreal fans finding humor in the promo code. Canadiens Twitter exploded in laughs and jabs back at Burr. It would be funny if the Canadiens organization welcomed him with a Habs jersey of his own or some merchandise emphasizing the 24 Stanley Cups they’ve won throughout the years!

I do have a warning for Bill Burr though. Not all fan bases are like this. Try this with Columbus Blue Jacket fans, you might get booed out of Ohio and banned from the state. Take the advice from me. I won’t dare cross the greatest pro sports state in the world again!! (This is an inside joke where I said that Ohio has nothing and I didn’t think players would want to play there)…..which is true).

The Canadiens and Bruins are Original 6 rivals, which dates back to 1942. For 25 years the NHL was made up of only 6 teams. New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, and the Chicago Blackhawks. It wasn’t until the first expansion in 1967 that the NHL introduced another 6 teams (doubling the size of the NHL). The 6 new teams were the Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota North Stars, Oakland Seals, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and the St. Louis Blues.
