Papa’s Picks For Sunday 11-4-18

After a shit Saturday of games for a huge slate it’s time to bounce back after an overall solid week. I hate talking about the previous days losses but one game in particular bothered me. The Columbus Blue Jackets getting crushed by an old and slow Kings team. I bring this up, because before heading into the season I thought this team would be a lock for the playoffs. This year, it doesn’t seem like this team can put anything together. Everything from scoring, speed, to defense all look extremely inconsistent. In the past you might be able to get away with this roller coaster play, but not anymore. The league is just too good overall to be have a roller coaster effort game in and game out. So I’m moving on from these pretender teams.

So here are plays for this Sunday.

Buffalo Sabres at New York Rangers: Under 6 +110

The New York Rangers have been solid defensively at home this year and after a long road trip and a few days off I think they will take some pride in their own building and shut down the Buffalo Sabres who put up 9 fucking goals yesterday. Buffalo travelled last night after crushing the Ottawa Senators, 9-2 so I see this game an offensive struggle for both teams. Here are some stats to back up my play: The total has gone under in 10 of the Rangers last 15 games and 4 of the last 6 when playing Buffalo. Buffalo does have a tendency to go over but have only gone over the 6 goal mark just once on the road so far and their O/U has been mostly 5.5. Having 6 here at plus money is a smart play.

Tampa Bay Lightning at Ottawa Senators: Bolts in Reg -125

Both teams played yesterday and it was a tale of two teams. The Sens got punished by giving up 9 and the Lightning had a nice win against a tough Montreal Canadiens. I always say that water finds its level and this seems to be true with the Ottawa Senators. With injuries to Smith, Pageau, Ceci, and Dzingel, I think the Sens will have a tough time competing 3 periods with the Lightning. This might be a two unit play.
