Lets break this down.
This whole thing starts when Kane throws a slash, misses his target and DRILLS the linesman. Was this on purpose? Absolutely not. But it DID happen and I could see somebody not being thrilled with getting their arm/body hacked in half.
From here, the players continue playing until the whistle is blown dead and the linesman gets a chance to go back at Kane. Now, I’m not sure if I’d say he was tackled but definitely given a little bit of the business by stripes. Remember, he just took a 2-0, green light, home run swing directly to the arm/body. Both parties then stand where Kane is all like “WTF MAN” and throws a shove.
This incident will 100% be blown out of proportion. Both parties are wrong in what they did, I’d call it a wash and lets move on. What will happen? The media and social justice keyboard warriors will talk about this for the next month to the point where I’ll hate going on Twitter.
Lastly, I told you all refs getting into it earlier is going to be a real threat to everyone this year. We touched on it in the podcast, but refs rushing to players when players are seeing red is not a good recipe for success. My guess? Kane gets two games, linesman gets scolded and we’ll all move on way slower than we really need to.
